Several countries have announced they will boycott next year’s Eurovision Song Contest after the European Broadcasting Union announced that Israel would be allowed to participate in the contest.

Georgia’s Eurovision journey
Georgia’s history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements – both coming in 9th – were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing Shine and Eldrine with One More Day. They have not qualified for the final since 2016, where they were represented by Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz with Midnight Gold.
For 2025, GPB selected Mariam Shengelia to represent Georgia with her song “Freedom”. In Basel, Georgia failed to qualify for the final, earning 28 points in the semi-final, ultimate placing fifteenth.
