Earlier today, Georgia’s broadcaster GPB announced that former Junior Eurovision winners Bzibeki will represent Georgia at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna.
Bzikebi for Georgia after Junior Eurovision success
Bzikebi were announced on Wednesday (January 14th) as being Georgia’s act for Eurovision 2026. This reveal comes after the band reunited to perform as an interval during Georgia’s hosting of Junior Eurovision in 2025. The song the trio will perform in Vienna will be released at a later date.
Bzikebi have already tasted Eurovision success, having won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 with “Bzz…”. This provided Georgia with its first Junior Eurovision win, with the trio going on to have a strong musical career in the following years – both as a group and as solo projects.
Georgia’s Eurovision journey
Georgiaโs history in Eurovision has been mixed since they began competing in 2007, represented by Sopho Khalvashi with “Visionary Dream”. Their highest placements โ both coming in 9th โ were achieved in 2010 and 2011, with Sopho Niharadze performing Shine and Eldrine with One More Day. They have not qualified for the final since 2016, where they were represented by Nika Kocharov & Young Georgian Lolitaz with Midnight Gold.
For 2025, GPB selected Mariam Shengelia to represent Georgia with her song “Freedom”. In Basel, Georgia failed to qualify for the final, earning 28 points in the semi-final, ultimate placing fifteenth.
