What did some of our team members have to say about the qualifiers?

Samantha: I didn’t watch the semi finals and the only performance I have seen is Zejna’s which from the start has been my standout out so this comment is purely based on the studio version. Overall I think that the right acts qualified but there is just a lot of meh. In my opinion there are still two clear standouts ; Zejna which I think is one of the best stagings we have seen this national final season and the fact that her voice never falters is amazing. The other standout is Harem Girls x Ivana but in all honesty I have no clue how Serbia is going to vote. Nonetheless I think Zejna will give them the best chance in Vienna.

Rory: Overall, I’m relatively happy with the qualifiers from this year’s PzE, but I am quite unsure as to who is going to win – which is always a good thing. Zejna was the fan favourite going into the competition, but we’ve seen really good performances from Brat Pelin, Lavina and Zona, so I would really think that it’s anyone’s game. None of these songs scream “winner” at me, but whatever they pick, it’ll be a song that Serbia is happy to send, which I think is the main situation.

What is Pesma Za Evroviziju?

Pesma Za Evroviziju has been the selection show for Serbia’s Eurovision entry since 2022, with Konstrakta winning the inaugural edition. It replaced the iconic Beovizija music festival after RTS lost the rights to use their brand. The show takes place over one week, and consists of two semi-finals each containing a non fixed amount around 15 artists, of which 8 (or 9 in 2022) qualify to the final. Points are awarded via a 50/50 televote-jury split where points are converted to a 12-1 scale. At least 51% of the lyrics of all submitted songs must be in one of Serbia’s official languages.

Serbia’s Eurovision Journey

In 2007, Serbia made its debut as an independent country, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. There, they were represented by Marija Šerifović with “Molitva”, which managed to win the competition. Since their debut, Serbia has participated 16 times (13 of which, where they qualified for the Grand Final).

Princ represented Serbia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel with his song “Mila”. At this year’s competition, Serbia failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in fourteenth place with 28 points in the semi-final.
