Czechia has revealed its act for Eurovision 2026, with Daniel Zizka being selected to represent the nation in Vienna. He will sing the song “CROSSROADS”.
Delayed revealed for Czechia
Initially, it had been announced that Czech broadcaster ČT would announce its act for Eurovision 2026 in January. However, after January passed without an announcement, the broadcaster hinted that it was taking extra time to focus on the song. Then, in a post, ČT revealed the artist would be revealed on March 8th. The song is going to be released on Wednesday, 11 March!
Kryštof Šámal, Head of the Czech ESC Delegation, said:
“When Daniel came into the studio and sang his song straight through on the first try with absolute ease, the room fell completely silent. Not because he was loud, but because he was completely focused and confident. The performance was disarming – technically precise, yet full of emotion. It was clear we were watching an artist who knows exactly who he wants to be.“
Daniel Zizka adds:
“Eurovision is a huge platform and a big show. But what I mainly want to bring there is music and emotion. I don’t want to compete hidden behind flashiness and spectacle. I want to stand firmly behind who I am as an artist.”
Michal Utíkal, Head of Media of the Czech ESC Delegation and Creative Producer, commented too:
“This year we decided to connect our media outputs with a unifying element. All components from photography and graphic identity to the music video and staging contain a leitmotif that symbolically underlines Daniel’s journey,”
Who is Daniel Zizka?
Daniel Žižka, just 23 years old, is already gaining recognition as one of the most exciting emerging artists in the Czech music scene. Music magazine Headliner has even named him among the country’s most promising upcoming talents. What truly makes him stand out is not only his strong vocal technique but also the distinctive way he delivers his performances, blending emotional maturity with a calm and genuine stage presence. This combination became clear from the very first listening sessions, where his authentic style immediately drew attention.
Czechia’s Eurovision journey
Czechia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2007, with Kabát’s “Malá dama”; however, their debut entry finished last in a 28-song semi-final, scoring only 1 point. This kicked off three consecutive non-qualifications, with their best result coming in 2008, finishing in second-last place. Having withdrawn in 2009 due to poor results, Czechia returned to the Contest in 2015. In 2016, Czechia qualified for the first time with Gabriela Gunciková’s “I Stand”.
Czechia reverted to an internal selection for 2025, selecting ADONXS with “Kiss Kiss Goodbye”. The song scored 29 points in the second semifinal, placing twelfth and missing out on the Grand Final for the second consecutive year.
