Following the announcement from Radio Televizija Crne Gore (RTCG) about the selection of Mija Vujović for Junior Eurovision, the Montenegrin broadcaster has today revealed the details of the song she will perform. “Muzika Nas Spaja”, written by Marko Kon and Vasilije “Vasco” Čolan, will be performed in Malta, in October.
“Muzika Nas Spaja” for Montenegro
Montenegrin broadcaster RTCG has revealed some of the details behind their Junior Eurovision 2026 entry. Nine year old Mija Vujović will sing “Muzika Nas Spaja” (Music Unites Us) for the country at the Contest in Malta.
“Muzika Nas Spaja” has been written and composed by Marko Kon and Vasilije “Vasco” Čolan, who eurofans may recognise. Marko Kon was the artist that represented Serbia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. Alongside Milan Nikolić, performed “Cipela” on the stage in Moscow. The pair failed to progress to the Grand Final, just missing out on a qualification spot in semifinal 2. Vasilije Čolan, performing as Vasco, entered the selection process for Serbia in 2022, but failed to make it to the final of PZE. The pair have an extensive production and musical career in the Balkans.
The selection of Mija Vujović for Montenegro comes after the country’s return to the Junior Contest last year, after a 10 year hiatus. This will be Montenegro’s fourth appearance at the Junior Contest since their debut as an independent nation in 2014.
Who is Mija Vujović?
Nine year old Mija Vujović will represent Montenegro at the Junior Contest in Malta, following the country’s return to Junior Eurovision in 2025.
The young singer has a huge amount of experience in competitions and music performances in the country. She has won both first and second place prizes for her vocal performance in Montenegro’s “Dok teče Lašva” festival. Mija has also won a number of other awards for vocal performance, stage performance, and as a member of the “Zvjezdice” children’s choir in recent years.
Mija speaks English and French, and says that music, dance and art have been part of her life since early childhood. Singing and dancing are her favourite forms of expression, according to RTCG.
Junior Eurovision 2026 begins to take shape
The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026 is due to take place at 21.00 CEST, on Saturday 24 October, live from the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre (MFCC) in Ta’ Qali, Malta. Last year’s Contest was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, where France’s Lou Deleuze won with the song “Ce Monde”. Malta’s broadcaster PBS are hosting the Contest for the third time, having staged the event previously in 2014 and 2016.
The announcement from the Montenegrin broadcaster marks the 9th nation to select their representative for the Contest in Malta, and the 3rd to select a song. The full list of the 16 competing broadcasters is as follows:

Montenegro’s Junior Eurovision journey
Montenegro first took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 as part of Serbia and Montenegro, when Montenegrin child singer Filip Vučić sang his song “Ljubav pa fudbal” in Hasselt. At the close of voting, the country finished in 16th place, earning 23 points. Montenegro would not join the Contest as an independent nation until 2014. Their first participation came from the duo Maša Vujadinović & Lejla Vulić singing “Budi dijete na jedan dan”, which finished in 14th place.
Montenegro returned to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2025, when Asja Džogović performed her song “I tužna i srećna priča” in Tbilisi. At the close of voting, Montenegro finished 16th in a field of 17, earning 49 points. Of this, 10 points came from the jury, with the other 39 coming from the online vote.
