🇸🇪 Submissions for Melodifestivalen 2027 are now open

With the new Eurovision season inching closer, SVT looks into next year’s competition and has commenced the search for Sweden’s next Eurovision entry. The submission period for Melodifestivalen 2027 is open now!

Melodifestivalen 2027 is now underway

If you are one of the people interested in submitting an entry, you haven’t got long as submissions are only open until 11:59CET on September 11th.

As per the rules published, SVT is set to reveal the artists, the title of their entry, as well as the composer and lyricists of the entry by November/December 2026. The rules for the 2027 edition of Melodifestivalen remain largely unchanged on last year’s show. The age restrictions have been changed, however, in line with the changes to the Eurovision Rules of Contest.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).

In 2026, Sweden were represented by FELICIA, singing “My System”. At the close of voting in the grand final, she had received 51 points, finishing in 20th place. 35 points were given by the juries, while she received 16 points by televoters.
