A total of eighty acts have reached the audition stage of the Luxembourg Song Contest 2027. These acts will now take to the stage in Luxembourg this weekend in the hopes of representing the country at Eurovision.
Several returnees among the eighty acts
In a press release by RTL, acts who have previously attempted to represent Luxembourg have advanced to the audition stage. RTL confirmed there had been an increase in applications, with over 70% of applicants already being Luxembourgish citizens. A further 20% held residency rights in the country, while the remaining 10% had some cultural connection to the country.
This weekend, the eighty acts will perform in front of a panel of music experts, RTL executives and musicians. The number of competing acts will then be whittled down as the format moves onto its second stage, with acts being told the status of their applications after the auditions. Meanwhile, the song submissions window remains open, with submissions being taken until October 29th. Currently, over 300 songs have been entered into the competition.
The third stage will see the pre-selected acts be paired with songs that suit their style, which will take place at the “Pairing Workshop” being held in early November. After this, the acts that will progress to the final of the Luxembourg Song Contest will be announced in mid-November. Tickets for the show on January 30th will go on sale in December.
