The search for Israel’s 2022 Eurovision representative is almost over. On February 5th The X Factor final will take place, the winner will go on to represent Israel at Eurovision in Turin, Italy. There are six acts still in with a shot of winning The X Factor Israel.
Who is still in The X Factor Israel
The six acts that remain in the running to represent Israel are:
- Inbal Bibi
- Shachar Adawi
- Michael Ben David
- Anna Stefani
- Eli Huli
- Sapir Saban
On Sunday 23rd January Inbal Bibi and Eli Huli earnt their place in The X Factor Final. Leaving Shachar Adawi, Michael Ben David, Anna Stefani and Sapir Saban battling it out for a place in the final on Thursday 27th January.
The Eurovision selection
Once the four finalists are selected, that is when Eurovision comes into play. On Sunday 30th January, there will be eight songs in total released, two songs for each of the four finalists. The public, the X Factor Israel judges, and a professional committee will then decide which song each finalist will sing in the final of The X Factor.
On Thursday 3rd February a special show will be broadcast called “Our Song for Eurovision”. The finalists will perform the song that has been selected for them live. On Saturday 5th February, The X Factor final will take place, the four finalists will perform a cover song before 4th place is announced. The top three will then perform their chosen song before the winner is announced.
Israelโs Eurovision Journey
Israel has a long and wealthy history in the Eurovision Song Contest, making their debut in 1973 with Ilanit and โEy Shamโ. Their first entry scored 97 points, placing 4th. Israel has since gone on to win the Contest on four separate occasions โ in 1978, 1979, 1998 and 2018.
Eden Alene returned to represent Israel in 2021 after the coronavirus pandemic meant that she was not able to perform in Rotterdam the previous year. Alene scored 93 points and finished in 17th place with her song โSet Me Freeโ.
