About ‘Una Voce Per San Marino’

‘Una Voce Per San Marino’ is new competition for 2022. This year is the 3rd time that San Marino has opted to use a National Selection to choose their Eurovision representative. Starting from tonight and running each night until Saturday. ‘Una Voce Per San Marino’ will see a total of 76 acts (60 international emerging artists, 6 Sanmarinese artists and 10 established artists) compete to go to Eurovision for the Most Serene Republic of San Marino.

The show will continue tomorrow evening with the final 20 international acts. The schedule for the rest of the week is:

  • Wednesday 16 February: Semi-Final 4 – Sammarinese Artists Final
  • Thursday 17 February: Second Chance
  • Friday 18 February: Emerging Artists Final
  • Saturday 19 February: Grand Final

Semi-Finals 1, 2, and 3 will feature 20 emerging artists per show (a total of 60) taken from international submissions to the contest; the top 3 acts of each Semi-Final will advance to the Emerging Artists Final. Semi-Final 4 will feature Sanmarinese artists only – of which there are 6 this year.

The Second Chance round will see the 15 acts that finished in positions 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th across the first 3 Semi-Finals battle it out once more for one of 4 spots in the Emerging Artists Final.

The 66 emerging artists will be whittled down to 9. These 9 will then compete in the Grand Final against the 10 established artists for the chance to compete for San Marino at Eurovision in Turin. The top 3 acts in the Grand Final will also receive cash prizes.

The qualifying rounds will be judged by a panel of 7 music and media professionals. 5 will judge the Grand Final.

San Marino’s Eurovision Journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 11 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.

Their recent participation saw them being represented by Senhit (who represented them in 2011, and was set to represent them in 2020), with the song “Adrenalina”. At her performance in Rotterdam, she was joined by American rapper Flo Rida, where San Marino qualified for the Grand Final for the second time in a row. Overall, San Marino placed 22nd, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
