Ahead of her Melodifestivalen participation, Tim interviews Klara Hammarström, one of the seven acts competing in the fourth heat of Sweden’s national selection. She is participating with the song “Run To The Hills.”
She says the song means a lot to her and shows a new side of herself. “Run To The Hills” is about dreaming big and the importance of trying to make those dreams come true. Klara talks about returning to Melfest, writing the song, and the process behind staging the song.
The fourth round of Melodifestivalen will be held on February 26th, and will be followed by this year’s second chance round. The final will be on March 12. Klara will be the final artist performing on the night. You can find the rest of the running order here and how the voting works this year here. About Klara Hammarström
Klara Hammarström is a 20 year old Swedish singer from Stockholm. This will be her third time competing in Melodifestivalen. She made her Mello debut in 2020 with the song “Nobody,” finishing 5th in her heat. She returned the following year and made it to the final with “Beat of Broken Hearts”. Klara ended up finishing in 6th place, and her song hit top 10 in the Swedish charts.
Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of Melodifestivalen and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 points from the jury and televoters.
