Amanda Tenfjord, Greece’s representative for the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, revealed in a tweet that she will release her song for the contest on Thursday, March 10. Details on what time the song will be released are yet to be confirmed.

Who Is Amanda Tenfjord?

Grecian broadcaster ERT announced that Amanda would represent Greece at Eurovision 2022 back in December. She is a half-Norwegian, half-Greek singer who has played the piano since the age of five. According to her website, the 24-year-old makes music that “makes you feel alive”. Most recently, Amanda released the EP “Miss the Way You Missed Me” in 2021. She also made a short guest appearance during Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix last month.

During the allocation draw in January, Greece was announced to perform in the second half of the first semi-final at Eurovision 2022.

Greece in the Eurovision Song Contest

Greece made their Eurovision debut in 1974 with Marinella’s โ€œKrasi, Thalassa Ke Tโ€™ Agori Mouโ€. She finished in 11th place with 7 points in total. Greece also earned two more top five finishes in the 20th century, in 1977 and 1992.

Greece became even more successful in the new millenium and earned their first Eurovision win in 2005 with Helena Paparizou’s iconic “My Number One”. This also continued an eventual string of eight top-ten finishes that included Kalomira’s “Secret Combination” and Sakis Rouvas’s “This Is Our Night”.

However, Greece’s unbroken qualification streak came to an end in 2016 when Argo’s “Utopian Land” finished 16th in its semi-final. Most recently, Stefania represented Greece at Eurovision 2021 with “Last Dance”. Her performance included spectacular green-screen effects and finished 10th with 170 points, earning Greece its first top-ten finish since 2013.
