🇩🇰 Reddi: “We’re just enjoying every moment and taking it in”

During Eurovision in Concert, Tim had the chance to talk to three of the four members of Reddi. Reddi will represent Denmark in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest with their song “The Show”. They talk about the Danish music scene, their DMGP experience, and what their staging plans are for Turin.

About Reddi

Reddi is a four piece, all-female Danish-Swedish rock band. They consist of Siggy (vocals), Ida (bass), Agnes (guitar), and Ihan (drums). Ihan has previous Eurovision experience, as she played the drums in Denmark’s 2012 song “Should’ve Known Better“. Fans of Nordic national selections meanwhile might recognize Agnes from appearing alongside Samira Manners in Sweden’s Melodifestivalen this year. Reddi won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix with a second place in the final and first place in the Superfinal. “The Show” was written by Reddi and Danish producers Remee and Chief 1, both of which have written multiple Eurovision songs.

Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest

Denmark first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 1957 and notched their first win in 1963 with Grethe and Jorgan Ingmann’s “Dansevise”. The country left the contest after 1966 but returned in 1978, and achieved mixed results in the next two decades. Denmark earned two third place finishes in 1988 and 1989, but were then relegated three times in 1994, 1996, and 1998.

They finally achieved their second victory in 2000 with the Olsen Brothers’ “Fly on the Wings of Love”, and have only missed the grand final five times since the introduction of the semi-finals. A six-year qualification streak from 2008 culminated in its third win in 2013 with Emmelie de Forrest’s “Only Teardrops”.

Most recently, Fyr og Flamme represented Denmark at Eurovision 2021 with “Ove os pa hinanden”. They finished eleventh in their semi-final and just missed qualifying for the Grand Final.
