Roxen, Romania’s representative for the 2020 season and at the 2021 contest, released her new single ‘Biggest Idiot’ on August 5th.
About “Biggest Idiot”
The song’s lyrics describe the frustration felt after a toxic relationship ends, knowing that it was the best decision but still feeling anger and nostalgia towards one’s ex. Stylistically, ‘Biggest Idiot’ is similar to Roxen’s Eurovision entries ‘Alcohol You’ and ‘Amnesia’, based around riffs sung by Roxen and the deep house genre. The video depicts Roxen and a male figure on a rooftop; later, Roxen sings alone in a forest and burns mementos from their relationship.
‘Biggest Idiot’ is Roxen’s fourth single in 2022, after ‘UFO’, ‘Printre Stele’, and ‘Ghost’. He contributed both music and lyrics to the song, along with Alexandru Radu, Theea Miculescu, and Viky Red.

Roxen’s Eurovision Journey
Roxen was chosen in February 2020 to represent Romania at the later-cancelled 2020 Eurovision Song Contest. Although her song ‘Alcohol You’ was not eligible to be performed at the 2021 contest in Rotterdam, Romania’s national broadcaster TVR internally selected them to be the 2021 representative, where they placed twelfth in the semi-final with the song ‘Amnesia’.
