🇦🇿 Azerbaijan confirms participation in the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest

More and more countries are confirming their intention to participate in next year’s competition. The next country to confirm it will be present in Liverpool is Azerbaijan. ITV has confirmed to ESCToday that it will be participating in the competition for the 15th time.

Azerbaijan’s selection method for Liverpool is still to be confirmed

Alongside the confirmation that they will be participating in Liverpool, ITV is yet to reveal how they will be selecting their next Eurovision representative. Since their debut in the competition, they have used various selection methods in selecting their entry. Since 2015, Azerbaijan’s representatives in the Eurovision Song Contest were selected internally.

Azerbaijan’s Eurovision Journey

Azerbaijan is a powerhouse in Eurovision, first debuting in 2008 with the song “Day After Day” by Elnur & Samir, finishing 8th. The country has since gone on to achieve five top-5 performances, including one win in 2011. Azerbaijan has a near-perfect qualification record, only failing to make the final in 2018, and is known for its impressive on-stage performances. In 2021, they were represented by Nadir Rustamli, who received 106 points and finished 16th with his song “Fade to Black”.
