🇮🇪 RTÉ extends submissions of Eurovision 2024 entries for Ireland

A few months on since the confirmation of its Eurovision 2024 participation and opened submissions for the search of its Eurovision 2024 entry, RTÉ has revealed that the submission period for submission of entries has now been extended.

Submissions open until October 20

RTÉ has now extended the submissions in the search for Wild Youth’s successor. The broadcaster is looking for accomplished songwriters with a proven track record of success in the music industry to submit an entry.

The submitted entries would then be evaluated by panel of music and entertainment industry professionals and Eurovision fans selected by RTÉ, with the performers being potentially invited to audition in the RTÉ studios in Dublin.

Once selected, the shortlisted artists and their entries will then be invited to perform on televeision in early 2024, with the specific mechanics of the selection to be confirmed by RTÉ on a later date.

Interested artists can now submit their submissions (which must be the final product), and will close at 18:00 local time on October 20.

Ireland’s Eurovision Journey

In 1965, Ireland made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with Butch Moore and the song “Walking the Streets in the Rain”, which managed to place 6th. Since their debut, Ireland has participated 56 times (making the Grand Final 45 times), and has won the competition seven times, which is currently tied for the record of most wins.

Ireland’s latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Wild Youth, with their song “We Are One”. They placed 12th in the semi-final, receiving 10 points from the televote, missing out on the Grand Final.
