Preparations are now well underway in Norway as the dates for Melodi Grand Prix 2024 are confirmed. NRK will broadcast the final of the show on February 3rd next year, with the winner representing Norway in MalmΓΆ.
Putting plans in place for February 3rd
According to Norwegian Eurovision media ESCNorge, Norway’s Head of Delegation Stig Karlsen revealed that the final of the selection will be held on February 3rd, 2024. Karlsen made the comments during a meeting at the Norwegian Eurovision fan club on Saturday night (October 21st).
No specific venue for the show has been publicly revealed by NRK. However, Stig gave hints as to how the show will progress, with “a surprising pair of presenters, a wide range of genres and a good mix of young and old artists” all set to feature in the selection.
Melodi Grand Prix is set to make a return following Alessandra‘s impressive fifth-place finish in Liverpool. The upcoming edition of the show will include three semi-finals, with the first being broadcast on January 13th. Six acts will compete in each semi-final, with a suspected three from each show qualifying for the final of the show on February 3rd. The presentation of artists and entries is expected to take place on January 5th.
There have already been changes made to the background team at the show, with a new professional choreographer joining the team. Following Mattias Carlsson’s departure from Melodi Grand Prix at the end of the 2023 edition, it has since been confirmed that Mona Berntsen will take on the role. Berntsen has extensive experience in working in high-production shows. Her highlight was having performed at Eurovision once before as a dancer for Madonna in Tel Aviv in 2019.

Norwayβs latest Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Alessandra with the song βQueen of Kingsβ. After qualifying for the final, Norway placed 5th in the Grand Final, receiving 268 points, 52 of which from the jury and 216 from televoters.
