Sudden Lights are joined by a latvian musician Gustavo, to sing the anthem of this year’s “Dod pieci” charity marathon.

About the charity and “Adata un diegs”

“Dod pieci” (tl. high five) is a charity marathon that is part of an international project called “Serious Request”, where the DJs in different countries in Europe, spend a week in a special glass studio. To support the charity you can donate, in exchange you can ask for a specific song to be played on the radio. This year, the anthem of the charity was written by Sudden Lights. The song title translates to needle and thread. The song’s symbolic message illuminates the goal of this year’s charity marathon – to invite the community to help at-risk children and young people. The main singer, Andrejs summarised it in these words:

“The needle and thread are like a symbol of the desire to sew what is torn – either it is a patch on the torn trousers or a stitched wound after a fight. Might as well be a patch on our relationships or our mental health.

The message of the song is quite universal – we have all felt superfluous at least once in our lives, but in the madness of youth these feelings and the human desperate desire for belonging can lead us astray.

The song is about that – about feelings that sometimes seem impossible to repair. The recording of this song was extremely special for us and the band, because we had the honor of working with the Latvian music legend Gustavo in the same studio. His verse to the song gave a dose of realism and inspiration,”

The music video for the song will be released on the 1st of December
