San Marino RTV, the national broadcaster for San Marino, has moved its national selection for Eurovision from March to February.

National Selection Moved

The final of Una Voce Per San Marino was initially scheduled to take place on March 2nd at the Teatro Nuovo Dogana, but the final has been moved and will now take place on February 24th. According to the published rules, the two semi-finals will take place on February 15th & 16th. It will include one dedicated semi-final for San Marinese citizens, and the competition will be judged by a jury of five experts.

San Marino calls on AI

One exciting development to look forward to during the San Marino national selection will be the groundbreaking addition of one AI-produced song. San Marino RTV are collaborating with London-based AI startup Casperaki, which will allow producers and singers with no prior experience to enter a song, and perhaps represent San Marino at Eurovision 2024.

In November, That Eurovision Podcast sat down to discuss San Marino in Eurovision. It included a chat about how San Marino approaches the contest, what we love, and more! Listen here to find out more.

San Marino’s Eurovision Journey

As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 13 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”. Italian band Piqued Jacks represented San Marino in 2023 in Liverpool with the song “Like An Animal”. The band performed in the second semi-final, but unfortunately didn’t qualify for the Grand Final. Overall, San Marino placed joint-last, receiving 0 points from the televote.
