Tonight the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest concluded, and saw Switzerland win for the third time with ‘The Code’ by Nemo.

Nemo won the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest with 591 points. They participated 21st in the final after qualifying from the first semi final.

Who is Nemo?

Nemo Mettler, who goes by their first name Nemo professionally, was born in 1999 in Biel, Switzerland. They started their career making music in German before switching to primarily English in around 2020. They achieved the highest peak on the Swiss charts in 2017 with “Du” (You), the lead single of the EP “Fundbรผro” (Lost and Found). Alongside their singing career, they took part in the second season of The Masked Singer Switzerland in 2021, finishing fifth. Additionally, they are currently appearing on “Sing My Song – The Swiss Exchange Concert” alongside Switzerland’s Eurovision 2022 representative Marius Bear.

Nemo will participate in Eurovision 2024 with the song “The Code”. It was written by themself, Benjamin Alasu, Lasse Midtsian Nymann and Linda Dale. The producers are Lasse Midtsian Nymann, Benjamin Alasu, Tom Oehler, Wojciech Kostrzewa, Pele Loriano, Nemo Mettler and Nikodem Milewski.

Switzerland’s Eurovision Journey

Switzerland both hosted and debuted in the inaugural Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. Their first participation was successful, as they won with Lys Assia’s โ€œRefrainโ€. Since then, they have participated on 62 occasions, making the Grand Final 51 times.

Switzerlandโ€™s most recent participation saw them being represented by Remo Forrer with his song โ€œWatergunโ€. Performing in the first semi-final, he qualified for the Grand Final for a fourth consecutive participation. In the final, Switzerland finished 20th, after receiving 92 points. Of these, 61 came from the jury and 31 points came from the televote.
