We are close to finding out who will participate in Luxembourg’s Eurovision 2025 selection, Luxembourg Song Contest, as auditions are taking place at the time of writing, with RTL revealing the jurors for the auditions.
A panel full of Eurovision experience
RTL has revealed that there will be five jurors, who have Eurovision experience, and are as follows:
- Diogo Fernandes – Co-Producer of Eurovision 2018
- Eldar Gasimov – Eurovision 2011 winner with Nikki.
- Poli Genova – Bulgaria’s Eurovision 2011 & 2016 representative.
- Niamh Kavanagh – Eurovision 1993 winner and Ireland’s Eurovision 2010 representative.
- Marie Myriam – Eurovision 1977 winner
RTL has confirmed that the jurors will be screening 79 entries from 53 performers, with the broadcaster confirming that 70% are Luxembourg nationals, 25% are eligible under the residence criteria, and 5% have a cultural link to Luxembourg.
The auditions have started today, November 8, and will run until November 10, with the broadcaster set to reveal the Luxembourg Song Contest 2025 participants being revealed on November 18.
Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey
Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.
Luxembourg returned to the contest for the first time in 31 years in 2024. Tali, represented Luxembourg in Malmö, with the song “Fighter”. At the close of voting in the first semi-final, it was announced Tali had qualified for the Grand Final. In the Grand Final, “Fighter” received 103 points. 83 points were from the national juries, while 20 points were from the televoters.
