With Poland’s broadcaster revealing the artists participating in its Eurovision 2025 selection, a name that was set to be participating was missing, and it is Junior Eurovision alum Sara James. Upon the reveal, the Junior Eurovision 2021 runner-up explained her absence in the line-up.
Wanted to change the song submitted
When the submissions for Polish opened, Sara submitted “TINY HEART” for the selection, which she thought was suitable for the selection. However, upon consideration, Sara thought that “PSYCHO” would be the song that suited her, and the message she wanted to convey in the competition.
However, upon her realization, she was not able to change her submission. Before the artists for Poland’s selection were revealed, Sara posted a message on her socials, explaining her decision to withdraw from the selection:
Dear All,
I never thought that at the beginning of the year, together with my team, I would have to make one of the most difficult decisions in my professional life so far. Eurovision was a huge dream, a challenge, and a tremendous opportunity for me. Therefore, with a heavy heart, I must inform you that I have decided to withdraw from this year’s edition of the contest.
The decision to participate in Eurovision was made in a moment filled with excitement and the desire to test myself on such a grand stage. I believed it would be an experience that would strengthen me and allow me to show you the best version of myself as an artist. However, life is often more complicated than we imagine.
The biggest turning point was realizing that artistic decisions must align with my intuition. Although I initially believed that Tiny Heart would be the best choice, I came to understand that the song that truly reflects me and what I want to convey in such a contest is Psycho. Changing this song was not possible due to the rules of the preselection competition.
I would also like to apologize to the preselection committee, which trusted me and gave me this unique opportunity. I am deeply grateful for your work and appreciate everything you do to make this contest so special. I hope you will understand my decision.
I know that some people may be disappointed by my decision—especially those who believed in me and supported my participation in the contest. If you feel this way, I kindly ask for your understanding and a bit of patience. I am learning how to make difficult decisions that are true to who I really am.
Thank you for all the words of support and for believing in my potential. It is thanks to you that I can grow as an artist and a person. I need some time to fully find my path, but I promise that I will give you reasons to be proud of me again.
With all my heart,
Sara
Poland’s Eurovision 2025 representative will be selected on Friday, February 14th, with SMS Voting to be used to select Luna’s successor.
Poland’s Eurovision journey
In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Edyta Górniak with the song “To nie ja!” and placed 2nd, Poland’s best result at the contest to date. Since then, Poland has participated 26 times, qualifying for the Grand Final 16 times.
Poland selected Luna and “The Tower” to represent them at Eurovision 2024. She received 35 points in the televote, placing twelfth in the first semifinal.
