Who is our winner from Montesong?

We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-15 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 15 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.

3rd. Tamara Živković – “Нова зора” (5.0):

2nd. Lana Lopičić – “Долине” (4.5):

1st. Lana x Đorđe – “Температура” (2.8):

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from Montesong?

Rory (Temperatura): I really quite like Temperatura! To me, this is the standout song in a selection that has definitely improved but still has a very obvious winner. The freshness of the beats makes it incredibly radio-friendly, and you can feel the temperature rising as the tension rises throughout the song. Đorđe’s voice really complements Lana’s voice well; my only reservation is staging – this needs to be pulled off well. But if it’s done right, Montenegro has a very realistic chance to qualify for the final.

Shiloh (Doline): I don’t usually go for Balkan ballads, but Doline grabbed my attention from the first listen. Atmospheric, great vocal quality, imbued with a real sense of place. Nothing tops it in Montesong in my opinion.

Molly (Nova Zora): Nova zora for me is my predicted to win the whole thing due to how not only strong her vocals are but also hot epic and dynamic the song sounds all together

And what were the teams thoughts on the national final as a whole?

Kittens: For me, this isn’t a strong selection unfortunately. There’s a handful of standouts, but that’s all there is. I was hoping for a lot more, but a lot of the songs are quite generic and don’t really stick in your head. The selection doesn’t really feel like it has good diversity, the production doesn’t feel tight throughout and something feels missing. It feels a bit like Montesong is still struggling to find an identity, and admittedly this is only year 2, but I would love to see the selection be smaller but with a much tighter selection process going forwards.

Silvia: I have to say I actually enjoyed listening to this year’s Montesong selection. There’s a good variety of genres, which really helps keep things interesting and makes the lineup feel less predictable. Of course, there are some songs that didn’t click with me, but there are also a few solid picks that with the right delivery, could maybe help Montenegro finally secure a spot in the final!

Montenegro’s Eurovision Journey

Before Montenegro announced its return to the Eurovision Song Contest for 2025, they had a scattered appearance at the competition. There has been a Montenegrin presence at the Eurovision Song Contest as far back as 1983, when the nation was a part of Yugoslavia. Montenegrin entries went on to represent Yugoslavia in 1983 and 1984, placing 4th and 18th respectively. Similarly, the nation also sent an entry as part of Serbia and Montenegro in 2005, placing 7th with No Name’s “Zauvijek moja”.

Montenegro returned to the Contest in 2025 with Nina Žižić returning to the competition after 12 years. Singing “Dobrodošli”, Montenegro competed in the second semi-final. However, their return did not see a return to the final, with Montenegro finishing last in the semi-final with just 12 points.
