🇦🇿 İTV οpens song submissions for Eurovision Song Contest 2026

Azerbaijan’s public broadcaster İctimai Television has officially launched its search for the country’s representative for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Vienna in May 2026.

Internal selection ahead

Through a post on its official Instagram account, İTV confirmed that it will again use an internal selection process to choose both the artist and the song that will fly the Azerbaijani flag at Eurovision next year. Artists and songwriters interested in representing Azerbaijan can submit their entries, including completed songs and performer information, by 18 January 2026 to song@eurovision.az. Submissions must agree to Eurovision Song Contest rules, meaning the track must be no longer than three minutes and must not have been commercially released or publicly broadcast before 1 September 2025.

Azerbaijan’s Eurovision journey

Azerbaijan is a powerhouse in Eurovision, first debuting in 2008 with the song “Day After Day” by Elnur & Samir, finishing 8th. The country has since achieved five top-5 performances, including one win in 2011. Azerbaijan has an impressive qualification record, only failing to make the final in 2018, 2023, and 2024.

Azerbaijan internally selected Mamagama to represent them in 2025 with the song “Run With U”; they scored seven points in the first semifinal, placing fifteenth and missing out on the Grand Final for a third consecutive year.
