Sergey Igorevich Stepanov, also known as the Epic Sax Guy, auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent performing the Moldovan Eurovision 2010 entry, “Run Away”.
Moving to the next round with 4 yes, everyone is curious about his next performance.
About “Run Away”
Moldova at Eurovision 2010 gave us one of the most iconic moments in the contest’s history. Represented by SunStroke Project and Olia Tira, the song ‘Run Away’ finished 22nd, but the result didn’t matter. Because that performance introduced the world to the ‘Epic Sax Guy’, a moment that went viral and became a global meme. Over a decade later, it’s still one of the most recognisable Eurovision moments ever — proving that sometimes, impact matters more than placement.”
Moldova’s Eurovision Journey
Moldova is relatively new to the Eurovision Song Contest, joining in 2005. Their debut entry, Zdob și Zdub, finished in 6th place, which had remained their highest scoring entry up until 2017. They were dethroned by the returners Sunstroke Project and the song ‘Hey Mamma’, which finished in 3rd place. At the close of voting, Moldova received 374 points.
After representing Moldova in 2007, Natalia Barbu returned to Eurovision in 2024 with the song “In the Middle”. She received 20 points in the first semifinal, ultimately placing thirteenth and missing out on the grand final.
