About Komiat

Komiat is a five-piece band that consists of singer Aleksi Yli-Sissala, guitarist-singer Samuel Järvinen, accordion player Antero Linden, drummer Eero Nummela, and bassist Juho Eskola, with the band describing their music as ‘straightforward accordion humppa with a good vibe’

The band was formed in the middle of 2010’s, with the aim of creating an ‘accordion-based dance music band that played traditional Finnish popular dance music without anything extra’, with the band starting to release cover songs in 2016, and then performing their first gig in 2016.

The band released their debut album “Komiat” in 2020, with the band releasing more singles since then, with the band releasing their latest album “Kaihosielu” in 2025, which included the single of the same name, which went platinum in Finland.

Commenting on Komiat selection for UMK26, the UMK jury comments:

Komiat, who are on a strong rise, bring their own positive vibe to UMK. UMK has never heard the sound of dance floors before, but now the time feels right for both the trends and the band’s popularity. The song has a great sing-along moment for next summer’s festivals, where one could imagine Komiat performing on even bigger stages. The whole thing is appropriately completed by a universal chorus that fits the mouth of anyone speaking any language.
