TES Ranks: LSC 2026

We at That Eurovision Site will be ranking national finals throughout this coming season. The next national final that the team have taken a closer look at is the Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC), which will take place on the 24th of January. LSC will select the Eurovision representative for Luxembourg in Vienna.

1st. Luzac – “Prison dorée” (3.00):

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from LSC?

Kittens (Irem): Girliepop divas in national finals with songs called ‘Hush Hush’, huh? Look, this isn’t anything particularly new but the contrasting harmony and that crunchy bass line is kinda fun. It’s not particularly technical on the vocal front but I feel like this needs dancers and drama. But, if it’s performed and staged well, I could see a good future for this song in the rankings.

Samantha (Eva): For me this is the best choice for Luxembourg. None of the other songs particularly speak to me and having me going back for more except this one. If staged well this could have potential. Also, I am a sucker for a string section in songs so this is perfect for me.

Euan (Luzac): Absolutely the best choice Luxembourg could make. The tempo changes work so well at drawing you in. The hook gets stuck in your head and really could stand out in a big field in Vienna.

And what were the teams thoughts on the national final as a whole?

Rory: Since Luxembourg came back to Eurovision in 2024, it’s safe to say their songs have been perhaps a little too safe in my opinion. These songs are daring to experiment just that little bit more, but I’m still rather underwhelmed by a lot of these songs. I think there are some really good ideas here, and I’m sure RTL is going to deliver a classy show as always, but I need them to really push the boat out next year so we can get something that makes us sit up and pay attention to what Luxembourg has to say.

Luxembourg’s Eurovision Journey

Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.

Luxembourg’s latest participation came in Basel in 2025. Laura Thorn represented Luxembourg with the song “La poupée monte le son”, qualifying in seventh place. In the Grand Final, Luxembourg finished 22nd, receiving 47 points: 23 from the national juries, and 24 from the televoters.
