🇸🇪 Erika Jonsson: “Keep doing what you’re doing – nothing is impossible!”

Ahead of her participation in Melodifestivalen 2026, Sweden’s selection for Eurovision 2026, Tim had the opportunity to speak with Erika Jonsson, who is making her debut in this year’s competition with her entry “Från Landet”

During their interview, Tim and Erika Jonsson talked about how her interest in music started, her song in this year’s contest, and one of her unusual skills!

Who is Erika Jonsson

Country singer and professional driver Erika Jonsson is from Värmland, and she has built a strong reputation for her warm, genuine personality and unmistakable Värmland dialect. Her big breakthrough came with her song “Sången om Värmland,” where she quickly gained a devoted following. Since starting her music career, Erika has released numerous singles and has amassed more than 25 million streams on Spotify.

Erika Jonsson will be making her debut in Melodifestivalen this year with her entry “Från Landet”, which was co-written by Erika alongside Amir Aly, and Mikael Karlsson.

Sweden’s Eurovision journey

In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win seven times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, 2015 and 2023).

In 2025, Sweden were represented by Finnish group KAJ, singing “Bara bada bastu”. At the close of voting in the grand final, they had received 321 points, finishing in 4th place. 126 points were received by the juries, while the trio received 195 points by televoters.
