🇷🇸Ana Mašulović:”I think it was the right moment to step out of my comfort zone and try a big stage”.

Ahead of her participation in Pesma za Evroviziju 2026 (PZE), Tetiana was able to chat with Ana Mašulović. She is making her debut in this year’s competition with her entry “Zavoli me”.

Let’s talk about your upcoming PZE 2026 participation. How did you come to the decision to apply and  how did you react when you got acceptance message?

I think it was the right moment to step out of my comfort zone and try a big stage. When I received the message that I had been selected, I was very happy, but also aware of the responsibility.

What was the process for “Zavoli me” creation, maybe an interesting backstory?

“Zavoli me” was born from pure emotion. It’s a song about the need to be seen, accepted, and truly loved. It wasn’t created for a competition — it came from a deep feeling, and maybe that’s exactly why it found its way to PZE.

Who would you ask da zavoli te (to love you), Serbian PZE fans?

Who would you ask to love me? Honestly..nobody. 😁 I believe love shouldn’t be requested. This song is about an inner desire to be loved, but that doesn’t mean that we should beg for love.

Did you make friends with PZE artists? Please tell some fun stories from backstage!

The atmosphere is very warm and beautiful. I’ve met wonderful people, and we all stick together because we’re going through the same experience.

You covered a lot of different songs with different sound at your performances. We assume you are into a lot of different genres in music. Tell us which artist or genre inspires you when you work on your music.

I love exploring music, and I find inspiration in artists who are authentic and who don’t shy away from emotion, for example,I love Sade.🤗

Please tell about your favorite Eurovision songs of all times and which ones you like that represented Serbia.

I love songs that carry strong emotion and a unique story. For example, Loreen’s “Tattoo” is one of them. And when it comes to Serbia — Marija Šerifović’s “Molitva” and Željko Joksimović’s “Lane moje.”

Your plans on where you would like to perform this year apart from PZE, any plans to release more music, arrange a concert or two?

I plan to continue releasing music and working on live performances, because the stage is where I truly connect with the audience.

What things you think Eurovision fans should know about Serbian music scene?

The Serbian music scene is much more diverse than people might think. There are many young artists! I believe a very exciting period is in front of us.

And lastly, what would it mean for you to represent Serbia at Eurovision?

Representing Serbia at Eurovision would be a huge honor for me. It’s not just a music competition, but an opportunity to show the world a part of our culture. For me, it would be a dream come true — but also a great responsibility

Serbia’s Eurovision journey

In 2007, Serbia made its debut as an independent country, having previously participated as part of Yugoslavia and Serbia & Montenegro. There, they were represented by Marija Šerifović with “Molitva”, which managed to win the competition. Since their debut, Serbia has participated 16 times (13 of which, where they qualified for the Grand Final).

Princ represented Serbia at Eurovision 2025 in Basel with his song “Mila”. At this year’s competition, Serbia failed to qualify for the Grand Final, finishing in fourteenth place with 28 points in the semi-final.
