We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-8 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 8 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.

1st. Alicja – “Pray” (2.50):

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from Finał krajowych kwalifikacji?

Rory (Zimna woda): If you know me, then you’ll be aware of how much I love some traditional ethnofolk mixed with modern beats. This really does just scratch my brain in the way it needs to, and thanks to its sound, it immediately stands out from the rest of what it’s up against. I do wonder how well it’ll stand up if it gets to Vienna, but it would be a song that REPRESENTS Poland 100%. And also it can get justice for “Lusterka” too.

Nicklas (Wild child): Anastazja has given us a solid pop track with a strong beat and plenty of charisma. The song is nothing we haven’t seen before but it is the kind of sound that Poland has had success with in the past, and could probably qualify for the final and get a decent result. In a very middle of the road show, a good performance and a strong vocal could be all this song needs to win in the end.

Kittens (Pray): Overall, this selection is a bit of a mess, but this is probably the most ‘me’ of the options. We know this is gonna deliver with strong vocals, and the song starts strong but feels like it loses its way a bit through the song. I love the soulful vibe of it though, and if you can make the most of that on stage I think this could do well.

And what were the teams thoughts on the national final as a whole?

Samantha: I had low expectations for this but overall I am pleasantly surprised. Thrilled that Alicja is back as I loved her entry in 2020 but, come on “Pray” blows “Empires” out of the water. There is a nice mix in the selection with some really international sounding music, some more traditional and a nice selection of ballads. There are clearly two standouts, Alicja and Anastazja but I wouldn’t underestimate Basia either.

George: The Polish national final this year feels quite weak. “Pray” is probably the only song that really stands out, but even that one feels a bit familiar, like we’ve heard it before. Still, if either “Pray” or “Wild Child” wins, I would be happy with that result. However, Poland needs to be more creative and put in more effort if it wants to reach the Eurovision Top 10 again anytime soon.

Poland’s Eurovision Journey

In 1994, Poland made their debut at the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Edyta Górniak with the song “To nie ja!” and placed 2nd, Poland’s best result at the contest to date. Since then, Poland has participated 26 times, qualifying for the Grand Final 16 times.

Poland selected Justyna Steczkowska to represent the national at Eurovision 2025 with “GAJA”, thirty years after her first participation. She qualified for the final, ultimately finishing in 14th place with 156 points. Of these, 17 came from the jury, while the remaining 139 came from the televote.
