The BBC has launched a new interactive feature inviting fans to vote for their “Ultimate Eurovision Superstar”, as part of celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the Eurovision Song Contest. Listeners of BBC Radio 2 can take part in the vote, which was officially launched on the Scott Mills Breakfast Show.
70 artists for 70 years
A shortlist of 70 iconic Eurovision artists has been compiled, representing each year of the contest’s history. The list includes:
- Artists from across multiple decades of the contest
- Global superstars who launched their careers through Eurovision
- Fan favourites remembered for standout performances
Names associated with Eurovision success over the years include acts like ABBA, Bonnie Tyler, Loreen, and Johnny Logan, among many others.
How the vote works
Fans are invited to vote for their favourite Eurovision acts via the BBC platform, with the final results set to be revealed later this year. Voting will close at the end of March, with the winner crowned during a special Eurovision-themed broadcast on BBC Radio 2 hosted by Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
United Kingdom’s Eurovision Journey
The UK is one of the most successful countries in the Eurovision Song Contest. Debuting at the second edition of the Contest in 1957, the United Kingdom won the competition on five occasions. The most recent win for the UK was in 1997 with Katrina and the Waves, singing “Love Shine A Light”. The UK also holds the record for second-place finishes – currently at 16.
In 2025, Remember Monday represented the UK in Basel with his song “What the Hell Just Happened”. At the close of voting, the UK finished 19th in a field of 26, earning 88 points. All these points came from the jury.
Who are you going to vote for? As always, please let us know what you think by getting involved in the comments below. Also, be sure to follow ‘That Eurovision Site’ on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Threads, tumblr, and Bluesky for more information about Eurovision 2026!
