Luxembourg’s national broadcaster RTL has opened submissions for the country’s national final Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC). The submission window will remain open until 20th September for artists and 29th October for songwriters.
Registrations open for Luxembourg Song Contest 2027
RTL, the national broadcaster for Luxembourg, has announced the registration period for the Luxembourg Song Contest is now open. In a press release, the broadcaster confirmed that artists and songwriters are both invited to register for LSC, which will be used once again to select Luxembourg’s artist for Eurovision.
Since Luxembourg’s return to the Contest in 2024, the country has used LSC as its national selection show for Eurovision. This year RTL are asking both artists and songwriters to apply independently. Artists who wish to partake in the selection can apply without being attached to a specific song in advance. Songwriters from Luxembourg and abroad are also invited to submit a track to the selection without a Luxembourgish artist attatched. Selected songs and artists will be joined together by RTL during a ‘Pairing Workshop’ later in the year.
As announced previously, the LSC national final will take place at the Rockhal in Esch-Belval on January 30th, 2027. This comes after the news that the budget for Luxembourg’s Eurovision entry has been increased to €2million per year, for the next 3 years.
Criteria and application process of LSC
Artists wishing to apply to partake in LSC 2027 are asked to do so here. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age on 15th January 2027, and be available for auditions, recordings and press between October 2026 and May 2027. The application window for artists runs from 9th July 2026 to 20th September 2026.
Artists wishing to apply must also meet the criteria set by RTL on Luxembourgish links. Those criteria are holding Luxembourgish nationality, having resided in Luxembourg for at least three consecutive years or a strong connection and track record with the Luxembourgish music scene. Examples of this given by RTL include engagement in musical practice and regular collaboration with cultural institutions, festivals and actors in Luxembourg.
Songwriters wishing to submit a track for LSC 2027 are asked to do so here. Songs must follow the usual Eurovision rules, being no longer than 3 minutes in length and being original pieces that have not been commercially released or publicly performed before 1st September 2026. The song must be intended for no more than 6 performers on stage, and main vocals must be provided live, with select prerecorded backing vocals in line with EBU rules.
RTL have stated that there is no restrictions on languages, with the song being performed in any language, including Luxembourgish. Songwriters and composers from both Luxembourg and abroad are invited to submit an application. The submission period for songs is open now, until 29th October 2026.
The songs and artists will be chosen by a panel of music / Eurovision experts. Finalists for LSC 2027 will be announced later in the year.
Luxembourg’s Eurovision journey
Luxembourg first made its debut in the first edition of the Contest in 1956, with their first entries being “Ne crois pas” and “Les Amants de minuit”, both performed by Michèle Arnaud. Since the first Contest, Luxembourg has competed a total of 38 times. Their best result was finishing in 1st place five times – in 1961, 1965, 1972, 1973 and 1983 respectively.
Luxembourg’s latest participation came in Vienna in 2026. Eva Marija represented Luxembourg with the song “Mother Nature”. She participated in the Second Semi-Final but failed to qualify for the final, earning 60 points – 34 points coming from the televote, with the remaining 26 coming from the jury.
