The submission window for the German national final for Eurovision, Das Deutsches Finale 2027, is currently open. German broadcaster SWR revealed the new team looking for musicians to take part.
SWR open submissions for Das Deutsches Finale 2027
German broadcaster SWR are looking for singers and songwriters to take part in the country’s national final Das Deutsches Finale 2027. In a press release, SWR announced that submissions for the selection are open until 12 noon (CET) on September 21st 2026.
SWR specified that they are not looking for rigid genres. The broadcaster stated they are open to “any musical vision from across the spectrum of popular music—whether from established artists or from professionally supported newcomers who have already achieved some initial success.”
Songs and artists wishing to apply must meet the usual Eurovision specifications. The song must not have been released or publicly performed before September 1, 2026. SWR also specified the application must always include both an act and a song. Applications consisting of only an act or only a song are not accepted. They ask for applicants to submit a finished song, lyrics, photos, a 90 second video and links to any websites or social media demonstrating an artist’s professionalism.

SWR outline new team behind Eurovision search
SWR also announced the team currently searching for potential Eurovision talent. The team includes Tina Sikorski (SWR delegation manager), Jules Kalmbacher (music producer, songwriter) and Pele Loriano (songwriter, producer, ESC strategy consultant). Tina Sikorski describes Loriano as “a Eurovision legend” who has “significantly contributed to the musical strategy behind the two ESC winners in 2024 and 2025 and has shaped Switzerland’s ESC music strategy as Music Director for many years.” SWR’s team is also joined by Florian Müller (International A&R and publishing), Celina Spanier (indie music manager), and Lilly Behling (artist and label manager, currently managing ESC winner JJ).
Germany’s Eurovision journey
Germany has been part of Eurovision since the beginning, debuting in 1956. Their debut entries were Walter Andreas Schwarz’s “Im Wartesaal zum großen Glück” and Freddy Quinn’s “So geht das jede Nacht”. Germany has appeared at every Eurovision except for 1996, which means they have been at more Contests than any other country. They have a long history of success in Eurovision, finishing in the top 3 an impressive 13 times. Germany has won the contest twice: Nicole won in 1982 with her song “Ein bißchen Frieden”, taking home 161 points. Their second win came in 2010, when Lena scored 246 points with her song “Satellite”.
Germany’s most recent Eurovision entry was Sarah Engels with “Fire”. As Germany is part of the Big 5, they automatically qualified for the Grand Final. In the Final, the song received 12 points and finished in 23rd place, all of which came from the jury.
