๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ฌ BNT continues work on selecting the Eurovision 2027 host city

As we have previously reported, the host city of the 71st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest is set to be revealed by the end of July. However, at the end of the month, the broadcaster has revealed that work on selecting the next host city continues.

Additional clarifications requested by BNT

Host broadcaster BNT has released that work on selecting the host city for 2027 continues, with further clarifications being requested, which are being reviewed.

The international working group responsible for selecting the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027 continues its work.

The evaluation process includes additional clarifications requested from the municipalities, which are still under review.

Sofia and Burgas have been shortlisted as the two candidate cities in the final leg of the Eurovision 2027 Host City race.

Despite the slight delay in the reveal of the host city for 2027, if a decision is made in August, it will be in line with when the host cities were revealed over the last 2 years, which is much earlier than 2022 and 2023.

At the time of writing, BNT and EBU are yet to confirm the date of when the host city for 2027 will be revealed.

The story of Eurovision 2027 so far

The journey to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following DARAโ€™s win in Vienna, when Bulgariaโ€™s BNT accepted the rights to host the 71st edition of the contest. Four cities have submitted a bid to host Eurovision 2027, and they are Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna. Burgas and Sofia are currently shortlisted to host the 71st edition of the competition.

As for the organisation of the competition, the Bulgarian government stepped in to create an organising committee, which was revealed at the end of May 2026, with further details about next yearโ€™s competition to be revealed in due course.
