🇧🇹 TES Ranks: Rhythm of Bhutan 2026

We at That Eurovision Site will be ranking the national finals in the lead-up to the inaugural edition of Eurovision Asia. The first national final that the team has taken a closer look at is Rhythm of Bhutan, which will take place on the 11th of August. The National Final will select Bhutan’s Eurovision Asia representative for Bangkok.

Who is our winner from Rhythm of Bhutan ?

We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-5 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 5 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.

3rd. Karma Drupchu – “Pha Yuel” (ཕ་གཡུས།)” (3.00)

2nd. Nyendra – “Lhayi Semo” (ལྷ་ཡི་སྲས་མོ།) (2.29)

1st. Baeyul 301 – “Drenpa” (དྲན་པ།) (2.00)

What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from Rhythm of Bhutan?

Sivi – (Karma Drupchu): I’m going to be very, very honest here: I definitely did NOT expect that. I loved it from the very first second until the very last bit of the song. I think it has this sort of “unexpected” melody and vibe, something us Europeans are probably not fully used to, as it’s quite common in Asian music culture! I absolutely loved it, and I really hope the live performance will deliver. If he doesn’t win or get a podium, I hope the show will get its Karma… (that was a terrible joke, I apologise).
PS: It’s definitely a great addition to my playlist too!

Tom – (Nyendra): Simply put, I just really enjoy the experience of listening to “Lhayi Semo (The Angel)”, from start to finish. Nyendra’s vocal is compelling, crips and intriguing. The instrumental of the song is light and pleasant. It makes it really easy to enjoy listening as the song builds throughout. It feels modern whilst also having a sense of cultural relevance (I know almost nothing about Bhutan, and this song, as well as others in the national final, makes me want to do more research). I don’t understand the lyrics as of yet, but I still feel the emotion in the song. Other songs in the selection excite and intrigue me, but this is the one that stays with me most after listening to them all. The last few notes that the song ends with are exciting to me. I can’t wait to see how this transfers to a live performance.

Kittens – (Baeyul 301): Out of all of the songs here, this is the one song that feels the most catchy to me. The little melody that runs behind it reminds me of something like M-flo (if you get that reference welcome out of the weeb mines), and the song flows really nicely and sweetly, and the rap is cute as well. Very easy to listen to, and very easy to pick up straight away – whether it has the punch to make a difference and not get absorbed is the kicker here.

What we know about Eurovision Asia 2026

Early this year, EBU and Voxovation have confirmed the launch of Eurovision Asia, following its initial attempt to launch the format in 2017. The inaugual edition of the competition is set to take place on November 14 in Bangkok, Thailand.
