New details have been unveiled about the stage plans for the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Burgas.
What are these new details?
On August 31st, in an interview with DESET, the architectural firm charged with building the stage in Burgas, the TV channel NOVA revealed that three designs had been originally proposed. However, only two of these designs will be considered.
Technical director Martina Denkova has stated that the first option would have a total capaciy of 12,627. In addition, the green room will have a similar design to those of the 2021 and 2022 editions of the contest, with the artists sitting around the stage. The second option would allow for a larger audience, with a capacity of 13,497, while the green room would be situated opposite the stage, at the back of the venue.
According to these plans, the press conference room would have around 300 seats, Denkova explains, and feature interview rooms, offices, sponsor booths, a catering area, and more. Delegations will be accomodated in a different building.
The story of Eurovision 2027 so far
The journey to the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off immediately following DARAβs victory in Vienna, when Bulgariaβs BNT accepted the rights to host the 71st edition of the contest. Four cities have submitted a bid to host Eurovision 2027, and they are Burgas, Plovdiv, Sofia and Varna. Burgas and Sofia were shortlisted, with Burgas winning the right to host the 71st edition of the competition.
In addition to the reveal of the host city, it was also revealed that Arena Burgas will be the venue for next year’s competition, as well as the official dates for your calendars, which are as follows:
- Semi-Final One: Tuesday 11thth May
- Semi-Final Two: Thursday 13th May
- Grand Final: Saturday 15th May
