Fresh from placing third at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Alexandra Căpitănescu is back with a new single. The “Choke Me” singer has today released “CMYM” ahead of her and her band’s debut album, due later in the year.
About “CMYM”
Alexandra Căpitănescu is back with new music following her third place success at Eurovision 2026 with “Choke Me”. The new single, “CMYM”, is a dark, electro-rock song with a heavy rock breakdown in the chorus. Alexandra’s vocal shine on this track, on top of roaring guitar riffs and heavy drum kicks throughout. The song has elements of Nu-Metal and traditional rock, with Alexandra’s recognisable vocal tone. The track ends with a thrashing metal guitar breakdown, before an eerily calm electronic beat rounds the song off.
The release of “CMYM” comes ahead of the upcoming debut album from Alexandra Căpitănescu and her band.
The song was written by Alexandra herself, alongside band members Bogdan Stoican, Matei Cohal and Thomas Cîrcotă. Alexandra and her band are due to embark on the “OBEY ME” tour throughout Europe in October. So far, dates have been announced in London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Berlin, Sofia, Helsinki, Stockholm and Warsaw. More information on tour dates and tickets can be found on Alexandra’s social media.

Who is Alexandra Căpitănescu?
Alexandra Căpitănescu was born and raised in GalaÈ›i, in eastern Romania, in 2003. She first rose to prominence in the country after appearing on Românii au talent (Romanian’s Got Talent). She gained more recognition after her win of the 11th season of Vocea României (The Voice Romania).
In 2024, Alexandra released her debut EP “Căpitanu'” and since January 2026, she has been a temporary member of the Romanian folk metal band E-an-na.
Alexandra Căpitănescu’s Eurovision journey
In 2026, Romania returned to the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time since 2023. The Romanian broadcaster would once again use the national selection, SelecÈ›ia NaÈ›ională, to pick the country’s Eurovision entrant for the Contest in Vienna. The result was decided by a 100% jury vote, with Alexandra Căpitănescu and the song “Choke Me” taking the win.
Performing at the second semi-final in Vienna, Romania managed to qualify for the Grand Final. At the close of voting in the final, “Choke Me” finished in third place, scoring 296 points. 64 points came from the international juries, and 232 were awarded by the public televote. This equalled Romania’s best ever placement at the Contest, having achieved bronze twice before, in 2005 and in 2010.
