Swedish pop music icon, Eurovision 2018 representative and two-time Melodifestivalen finalist Benjamin Ingrosso is back with new music! The artist has this week released two new singles, “Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time”, returning to new music for the first time in almost two years.
About “Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time”
Benjamin Ingrosso is back with new music. Releasing his first music in almost two years, “Funny Feeling” and “Waste My Time”. The Swedish pop star sings about being tossed back and forth between romance, sexual euphoria, and emotional self-deception on the tracks.
The first of the singles, “Funny Feeling,” blends soul-pop and electro-disco, over a pop-infused piano track. The chorus backing vocals deliver an almost 90s alternative pop sound. The second of the singles, “Waste My Time” is a more forceful track that blends new-wave and pop-rock, reminiscent of the 2000s electro-pop-rock scene. Benjamin’s vocal abilities shine on both tracks.
Speaking about “Funny Feeling”, Benjamin said:
I always fall in love the way you usually only see in movies—feeling like I’m living out one of those 90s rom-coms I’ve been obsessed with since I was little. I’m ready to do anything, and I lose my grip on everything else in my life. I always think I’ve found “the one,” but then things take a completely different turn.
And of “Waste My Time”, the artist explained:
Being alternately chosen and rejected does such crazy things to you as a person. Even though you know you’ll feel like crap afterwards, you just find yourself drawn to it even more strongly. It becomes like an addiction; the feeling that this time might be the last is more intense than anything else I’ve ever experienced.
The new singles were written and recorded in Sweden, the US, and England. The songs were produced and finalised during a two week session in July, at Benny Andersson’s studio, Riksmixningsverket.
Jonathan Rado, who has worked with the likes of Miley Cyrus and The Killers in recent years, co-wrote and co-produced the first of the two tracks alongside frequent collaborator Kane Ritchotte. David Stewart, who produced “Look Who’s Laughing Now” on Benjamin’s previous album, helped create “Funny Feeling”. Jon Shave, who co-wrote “Kite” on Benjamin’s last album, contributed to “Waste My Time”.

Who is Benjamin Ingrosso?
Benjamin Ingrosso is a Swedish-Italian singer, songwriter and record producer born in 1997. As a child, he appeared as the leading role in several musicals and took a keen interest in music and musical theatre. In 2006, Benjamin won the Lilla Melodifestivalen Contest, the youth version of Sweden’s Melodifestivalen, with the song “Hej Sofia”. He represented Sweden in MGP Nordic 2006, in Stockholm, where he placed fourth. In 2014, he competed in and won the SVT celebrity dancing show Let’s Dance.
Benjamin Ingrosso’s Eurovision journey
In 2017, Benjamin made his Melodifesitvalen debut with the song “Good Lovin'”, which he co-wrote with Louis Schoorl and Matt Pardon. He would place fifth in the final of that year’s Melfest. Benjamin returned to the Mello stage the following year with the song “Dance You Off”, written by Ingrosso himself, with Louis Schoorl and K Nita. After reaching the final of Mello 2018, Benjamin won the contest, earning the right to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon.
Benjamin performed in the second of the Semi-Finals in Lisbon, qualifying for a spot in the Saturday Grand Final. At the close of the jury voting sequence, “Dance You Off” had received 253 points, earning the 12 points from the juries of eight countries, and placing him in second before the addition of the public televote. At the close of voting, Benjamin received just 21 points from the viewing public, scoring an overall 274 points. “Dance You Off” eventually would finish in 7th place in the Contest in 2018.
When Sweden hosted the Contest in Malmö in 2024, Benjamin returned to the Eurovision stage as an interval act. Performing in the interval of the first of the Semi-Finals, the singer performed a medley of his hits “Look Who’s Laughing Now”, “Kite” and “Honey Boy”.
