🇦🇹 COSMÓ releases debut album “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER”

Austria’s host entry for the 2026 Contest in Vienna has released his debut album. The Viennese musician COSMÓ has this week released “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER”, the first full length album from the singer. It follows the release of “RUNTERSPÜLEN” earlier in the year.

About “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER”

COSMÓ has released his debut full length album “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER”. The Eurovision 2026 host entry for Austria has released the 11 song album, containing his Eurovision song “TANZSCHEIN”, previously released tracks such as the recent single “RUNTERSPÜLEN”, and 6 new tracks. Much of the album is in the same electro-pop-rock genre as his ESC song, with moments for more personal singer-songwriter ballads contained on the record also.

As a complete album, “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER” is an amazing debut from COSMÓ. The tracks differ from each other in a way that keeps every song exciting, while still feeling part of the same overall sonic project. Personal highlights of the record include the new songs “WIR SIND NICHT DAS PROBLEM”, “BESSER SO” and “CRASHING”. “BESSER SO” sees COSMÓ deliver a more melodic, elctro-synth sound, with elements of the chorus of the song in the English language. “CRASHING” is a great example of a lower-tempo, more emotional and personal sound on the album. The tracks released back in May, including “ALLE MEINE NACHBARN” and “DU MACHST MICH HIGH” find a home on this new record, completing the finished product.

The Austrian musician took to his instagram to celebrate the release of the album. Thanking the creative team, as well as fans, COSMÓ said:

thank you, you are the best, your support means a lot to me. i wrote this album for anyone who thinks we’re basically a “lost generation”. I’m a dreamer and I will not be ashamed for one second.

Tracks on the album are most written by Benjamin himself, with songwriting and production credits also including the likes of Ella Stern, Markus Perner and Elias Stejskal. “LIEBER TRÄUM ICH WEITER” is released on the Töchtersöhne music label. COSMÓ is due to embark on an album tour in the coming weeks, with shows in Germany and Austria already announced. Ticket and show information can be found on his website.

Who is COSMÓ?

COSMÓ is the stage name of Benjamin Gedeon, a 20-year-old singer born in Budapest, Hungary. Growing up on the Austrian-Hungarian border, he became invested in music as a child, learning how to play the piano at the age of four. He wrote his first song when he began to take singing lessons at 13. In 2020, Benjamin auditioned for The Voice Kids Germany, but was eliminated in the second round. He gained recognition in 2022, when he returned to the German version of The Voice Kids, this time reaching the final under the guidance of Alvaro Soler. After this, he began to lean into various genres, exploring his personal musical style.

Ahead of the Austrian national selection for Eurovision 2026, he adopted the moniker ‘COSMÓ’. He entered the national final Vienna Calling – Wer singt für Österreich?, with the song “Tanzschein”. The track was written by Benjamin himself, alongside Elias Stejskal and Ella Stern.

COSMÓ’s Eurovision journey

For the 2026 Contest, Austria was the host nation, following JJ’s win in the 2025 Contest with “Wasted Love”. Austrian broadcaster ORF brought back the national final format to select their host entrant. COSMÓ placed first in the Vienna Calling – Wer singt für Österreich? national final. COSMÓ would represent the nation on home soil with his song “Tanzschein” for the 70th anniversary edition of the Contest.

Being the host country, Austria automatically qualified for the final. The running order spot for “Tanzchein” was selected out of a hat in early 2026, with COSMÓ performing last in the Grand Final. COSMÓ would ultimately finish in 24th place with 6 points. One point came from the jury while another five came from the televote.
