Belgium’s most recent Eurovision participant Essyla is back with new music. The “Dancing on the Ice” singer has this week released new single “IN MY BODY”.
About “IN MY BODY”
Essyla, who represented Belgium in the Song Contest in Vienna earlier this year, has released her latest single “IN MY BODY”. The new track is a dark-pop song, with a catchy chorus and a synth infused, RnB / pop sound throughout. Essyla takes a slightly different lane on this new track compared to her Eurovision entry. The new single is a great follow up to the recently released “TRAUMA SHOW“.
“IN MY BODY” is a personal and introspective song about feeling your emotions fully, while in the darkest of places. The song details wishing not to feel in your body, while feeling the strongest of emotions. Essyla explains how it is okay to fall, and it is okay to not feel on top 100% of the time. Sometimes the feeling of needing to escape and get away from your thoughts is the most prominent noise. Posting about the song on her instagram, Essyla used the T. Raphael quote to explain the song:
It was better to suffer but to know strong emotions and feel alive, than to never feel anything, neither joy nor sorrow, nor the slightest emotion.
The new single was written by Alice herself, with composition and production from Thibaud Demey. The track is release on the Ma Belle Production music label.

Who is Essyla?
ESSYLA is the stage name of Alice Van Eesbeeck, a singer born in Perwez in Wallonia, Belgium’s francophone region. Growing up in between Flanders and Wallonia, she showed a musical prowess from a young age, adopting her stage name as she was getting into the music scene. She first gained notoriety in 2020 when she competed in The Voice Belgique, finished second behind Jérémie Makiese, who would represent Belgium in 2022. Since then, she has released solo music, with her debut single being released one year later.
Essyla’s Eurovision journey
Belgium internally selected ESSYLA to represent the nation with “Dancing on the Ice” in 2026. The song was written by Alice herself, alongside Barbara Petitjean, Emil Stengele and Nicolas d’Avell. Competing in the first semi-final, Belgium qualified for the Grand Final, placing 21st and earning a total of 36 points, all of which came from the professional jury.
