We at That Eurovision Site will be ranking the national finals in the lead-up to the inaugural edition of Eurovision Asia. The next national final that the team has taken a closer look at is The Sound of Vietnam, which will take place on the 3rd of October. The National Final will select the entry Tóc Tiên will take to Eurovision Asia.
What entries are taking part in The Sound of Vietnam?
There are 5 entries taking part in the final of The Sound of Vietnam, and they are:

Which entry is our winner?
We ranked the songs taking part in the final, using a 1-5 ranking. 1 being our favourite, 5 being our least favourite song. We then calculated the average of all our rankings.
3rd. Tóc Tiên – “KHÓ GÃŒ?” (3.00)
2nd. Tóc Tiên – “FOLLOW ME” (2.14)
1st. Tóc Tiên – “EM TIÊN” (2.00)
What did some of our team members have to say about their favourite songs from The Sound of Vietnam?
Rory (KHÓ GÃŒ?): By far and away, this is the most musically interesting song in the bunch we have in this selection. The way the tempo gradually speeds up at the end of the song definitely lends itself well to intense staging, and the introduction of heavy beats only when Toc sings in English is interesting production-wise. Out of the five songs in this selection, this is the least “high-fire-desire”-esque song lyrically, and anything to make the show more diverse is something that will definitely win me over.
Tom (FOLLOW ME): This song is absolutely the most catchy, ear-worm pop song in this selection. The chorus, both lyrically and musically, may be on the simpler side, but this has been stuck in my head ever since I first heard it. For me, this has the most potential for a ‘wow moment’ on the Bangkok stage. I can also imagine a very obvious crowd who would potentially vote for this song in the Eurovision Asia Contest. So with the split-voting rules in place for the public vote in the Asia Contest, this has a real shot at performing well in Thailand in November if selected.
Samantha (EM TIÊN): I think that Em Tien has the potential to stand out amongst other entries we already have competing in Eurovision Asia. I like the musicality of this one and I feel like you can feel Toc Tien’s personality shine through. The mix between folk sounds and a more modern electronic sound blends well together. It’s a nice fusion between traditional Vietnamese elements with contemporary production that gives the song a unique identity which I think could make it stand out on the stage in Bangkok.
