Eurovision 2024 participant for Portugal, IOLANDA, is back with new music! The singer, who performed “Grito” in the Grand Final of the Song Contest in Malmö, has this week released her latest album, “Quebranto”.

IOLANDA is back! The Portuguese Eurovision 2024 representative has this week released her latest album. The new album “Quebranto”, which translates to ‘Broken’ in the English language, is a 13 track record in the Portuguese language, mixing pop and jazz with traditional Portuguese flair. The new record contains recently released singles “Olha P’ra Era”, “Responso” and “Noite Inteira”, as well as plenty of new tracks.
The Portuguese singer describes the new music as “the album [she] had the most pleasure to make”, and it is easy to see why. Start to finish, the record is a beautiful listening experiences, featuring IOLANDA’s breathtaking and instantly recognisable vocals, over backing music that compliments her voice perfectly. The opening, title track, “Quebranto”, starts the album with a soft welcome, before transitioning into the captivating “Entrai”. The record closes with the ethereal sounding “Aurora”, featuring violins, spoken word and huge vocals from IOLANDA.
Much of the album was written by IOLANDA herself, with co-writing credits on some of the tracks attributed to xtino, Carolina Deslandes, Luar, Matheus Parazio and Extrazen. The album is released independently on the IOLANDA project label, distributed by Altafonte Portugal. IOLANDA is due to play the Coliseu dos Recreois music venue in Lisbon in December, with further live dates to be announced. More information can be found on her website.

Who is IOLANDA?
Iolanda Costa, known artistically as IOLANDA, was born in Portugal in 1994. She rose to prominence in the country after appearing on the first season of the program Uma canção para ti, in 2008. IOLANDA studied music and communications in her youth in Portugal, with a focus on jazz vocals and performance. The musician later moved to London to study songwriting at the BIMM music university. She has previously auditioned for both Ídolos and The Voice Portugal in the country. She was unfortunately unable to make the live rounds of both shows.
IOLANDA’s Eurovision journey
In 2022, IOLANDA made her debut at Festival da Canção as co-author and co-composer of the song “Mar no fim”, performed by Blacci. IOLANDA was invited back to FdC as an artist by Portuguese public broadcaster RTP in 2024. The singer entered the national selection with the song “Grito”, written by IOLANDA herself with composition from Luar and co-writing from Rita Onofre. She won the 2024 FdC, receiving with 22 points, and earned the right to represent Portugal at the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.
Following Loreen’s second win in 2023, the 2024 Contest was held in the Swedish city of Malmö. At the Contest, IOLANDA performed “Grito” in the first of the Semi-Finals, qualifying to the Saturday Grand Final. At the close of voting in Malmö, IOLANDA finished in 10th place. She received a total of 152 points. 139 of which came from the international juries, and 13 points were awarded by the public televote.
IOLANDA was invited back to the Eurovision stage for the 2025 Contest in Basel. She joined fellow 2024 contestants Jerry Heil, Silvester Belt and Marina Satti to perform a celebration of Céline Dion. The performance acted as the interval of the First Semi-Final in Basel. IOLANDA also awarded the points from the Portuguese Jury in the 2025 Grand Final.
