šŸ‡³šŸ‡“ KEiiNO release new single “Remember My Name”

KEiiNO are back! The Eurovision 2019 representatives from Norway, and multi-MGP entrants, have released new single “Remember My Name”. Alexandra, Tom and Fred, who won the televote with “Spirit in the Sky” at the Contest in Tel Aviv, continue the success of their “Chromium Heart” era with a new sound.

About “Remember My Name”

Eurovision fan-favourites and global Norse-pop superstars KEiiNO are back with new music! The Norwegian Eurovision 2019 representatives have this week released their latest single, “Remember My Name”. The new single blends ancient sounds of Norwegian and SĆ”mi origin, with the nu-disco and pop genre, creating a sound KEiiNO have become known and loved for. The chorus of “Cause I was born on my own, I will die alone, but you will remember my name” is instantly catchy, and sells the story of sunrise, moonlight, and the theme of forever alluded to in the song’s title.

Alongside their signature SĆ”mi joik, “Remember My Name” introduces kveding into KEiiNO’s sound for the first time. The sound of kveding comes from an ancient Norwegian vocal art, tracing back to the Viking age and the Old Norse traditions of poetic chanting. Together, with the pop-disco-joik that has made the band so globally loved, the new single is exciting, fresh and a great Autumn dance anthem!

The band say the track was:

inspired and created in a cabin deep in the Norwegian woods. ‘Remember My Name‘ is written as the lament of the trees that have stood for thousands of years and also of the people who have lived under its branches. We may face life and death alone, but we demand to be remembered by those close to us, to have legacy that lasts forever.

The new single was written by Alexander N. Olsson, with band members Tom Hugo Hermansen, Alexandra Rotan and Fred Buljo. Production of the song came from Rüdiger Schramm and Tom from the band, and is released on the Mii AS production company. KEiiNO are due to play a Mexico City show at the start of 2027. More information and tickets can be found on their website.

Who are KEiiNO?

Norwegian band KEiiNO was formed in late 2018 of singers Alexandra Rotan and Tom Hugo, and SĆ”mi rapper and joik singer Fred Bruljo. All three members of the group had previously embarked on other musical projects. Alexandra took part in the 2016 season of Norwegian Idol, reaching the semi-finals of the contest. Fred first gained recognition in Norwegian music scenes as a part of the SĆ”mi rap duo Duolva Duottar. The duo reached the final of the 2008 season of Norske Talenter. Tom has had a successful career as both a songwriter and musician in his own right, performing with Norwegian group Radiogram as well as releasing tracks under his own name. The group KEiiNO came together as a trio in order to compete in the 2018 edition of Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix. The name of the band was inspired by the name of Fred’s home town, Kautokeino.

Eurovision journeys pre-KEiiNO

Both Tom Hugo and Alexandra Rotan have competed in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix at different points before the formation of the trio KEiiNO. Alexandra first took part in the Norwegian national final in 2018, alongside Norwegian Eurovision star Stella Mwangi. Together, they performed the song “You Got Me”, eventually placing third in the selection. Alexandra had previously entered the junior version of the MGP contest back in 2010, reaching the final with “Det vi vil”.

In 2013, Tom participated for the first time in the MGP with the song “Det er du”. However, he did not qualify for the Final. In 2018, he returned to the national final with the song “I Like I Like I Like”, but once again was unable to reach the final round.

KEiiNO’s Eurovision journey

As KEiiNO, the group entered the 2019 edition of the Norwegian national selection for Eurovision, Melodi Grand Prix. They entered the contest with the song “Spirit in the Sky”, written by Tom Hugo and his husband Alex Olsson, as well as the other members of the group. KEiiNO would win the 2019 national selection, and earned the right to represent Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv. At the close of voting in the 2019 Grand Final, “Spirit in the Sky” won the public televote, with 291 points. The international juries, however, placed the song just 18th, with 40 points. Overall, KEiiNO would finish 6th in the 2019 Contest with a total of 331 points.

Following their success in the 2019 Song Contest, KEiiNO returned to Norway’s MGP on two occasions. In 2022, the group competed with the song “Monument” and in 2024 they returned with “Damdiggada”. On both occasions, they finished as runners-up in the national final, just missing out on a second Eurovision ticket. They have, however, solidified themselves as Eurovision icons, and regularly make appearances during pre-party season across Europe. In 2025, Tom from the band revealed the points from the Norwegian jury at the Contest in Basel.
