JIVA, who represented Azerbaijan at Eurovision 2026

Azerbaijan have confirmed their intention to participate in the 2027 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. The Azeri broadcaster ITV announced that the country will take part in the contest due to be held in Bulgaria in May.

ITV confrims 2027 participation

The news was officially confirmed when ITV appeared on the confirmed list of participating broadcasters for Eurovision 2027.

No information has yet to be given regarding participation and the selection method of the artist and song. However, in recent years, ITV has opted for an internal selection to choose their act, with the last time a national selection being used to choose the act being in 2014.

Azerbaijan’s Eurovision journey

Azerbaijan was, for a very long time, a powerhouse in Eurovision, first debuting in 2008 with the song “Day After Day” by Elnur & Samir, finishing 8th. The country has since gone on to achieve five top-5 performances, including one win in 2011. Following this, Azerbaijan hosted the contest in Baku in 2012. Azerbaijan has an impressive qualification record, only failing to make the final in once, in 2018, until the 2023 edition. Since 2023, the country has failed to qualify to the Grand Final every year.

Azerbaijan internally selected JIVA to represent them in 2026 with the song “Just Go”; she scored just two points in the second semifinal, placing fifteenth and missing out on the Grand Final for a fourth year in a row.
