France Télévisions confirms 2027 participation
The news was officially confirmed when France Télévisions appeared on the confirmed list of participating broadcasters for Eurovision 2027.
No information has yet to be given regarding participation and the selection method of the artist and song. However, in recent years, France Télévisions has opted for an internal selection to choose their act, with the last national selection for Eurovision taking place in 2022, known as “Eurovision France – c’est vous qui décidez!” .
France’s Eurovision journey
France is a powerhouse in Eurovision, debuting in the first Contest in 1956 and appearing in 68 of the 69 contests so far. Their first entry finished in second place, but no scores were ever published. Since then, France has gone on to win the Contest five times. The most recent win came in 1977, with Marie Myriam’s “L’oiseau et l’enfant”, scoring 136 points. France has seen a rebirth in results following a change in direction in 2016. Amir finished in 6th position for France with “J’ai cherché”, followed by 12th, 13th and 16th places respectively in the following contests. In 2021, France came second once again in the Grand Final in Rotterdam, with Barbra Pravi’s “Voilà ” scoring 499 points overall.
For the 2026 contest, France continued their recent tradition of choosing Eurovision artist internally, selecting teenage opera singer Monroe with her song “Regarde!”. At the close of voting in Vienna, France finished in 11th place, earning 158 points. Of these, 144 points were given by the juries, whilst the televote allocated an extra 14 points to France.
