Moldova’s Eurovision 2026 representative Satoshi is back with new music. The “Viva, Moldova!” singer, who placed eighth at this year’s Contest in Vienna, has released his latest album and cinematic project “VATRA”.
About “VATRA”
Moldova’s most recent Eurovision representative, Satoshi, has released his latest album. This week, Satoshi shares the album “VATRA”, alongside accompanying album film of the same name.
The tracks on the new album build on the success of his Eurovision 2026 entry “Viva, Moldova!”, while exploring themes of dualism, history, the importance of a persons place on Earth and tradition. Many songs on the record touch on different genres of music, with rap at the forefront, but elements of rock, DnB, trap and indie all featuring. Romanian singer, and fellow ESC 2026 participant, Alexandra Căpitănescu makes a surprise appearance on the album, joining Satoshi on the track “3 Puncte”.
Speaking about the choices made when creating this record, and the imporance of the album artwork, Satoshi says:
The cover is a photo. This came out when the album was only 3-4 tracks. In the summer of 2025, I visited Soroca for the first time. There, on Independence Street, within the memorial complex of the municipality, I discovered the monument dedicated to the memory of the participants in eliminating the consequences of the nuclear catastrophe at the Chernobyl Atomoelectric Plant.
He continued:
The atom and the cross in the centre of the monument engulfed me: I saw a graphic representation of Eastern Europe and particularly of our country, where the spiritual/tradition/material coexist strangely but seems organically, with the material/realist/state/pragmatic. Science and religion, state and people – together and separate, united and opposite, complementary and contrasting. The monument is white, the background of the drawing is black, and the symbols are white. The idea of dualism and monumentalism – that’s what I wanted to build around the work “VATRA”.
Much of the album was written and produced by Satoshi himself, with production and engineering coming from Cătălin Temciuc, who worked on the ESC 2026 track “Viva, Moldova!”. Satoshi is currently embarking on the European-wide Viva, Moldova! Tour. Dates of the tour visit countries across Europe, with concerts planned throughout November and early December. More information can be found on his social media and website.
