🇳🇱 Duncan Laurence – “Heal Me”
🇺🇦 Kalush Orchestra – “метелика”
Kalush Orchestra should need no introduction to Eurovision fans. The Ukrainian Eurovision winners came second in the 2022 Vidbir national selection, before the winner of the selection withdrew, and Kalush stepped in to take her place. At the 2022 Contest in Italy, Kalush Orchestra won the public televote, securing the overall win at the Contest in Turin. Due to Russia’s illegal invasion, Ukraine were unable to host the 2023 Contest, with the city of Liverpool stepping in on their behalf. Kalush Orchestra made the journey to the northern English city and opened the Grand Final of the 2023 Contest. This week, Kalush Orchestra are back with “метелика”. The song is a great mix of folk-rap, dance and electronica, with anthemic vocals and a sweet message.
🇫🇮 Krista Siegfrids – “Finlandia”
Krista Siegfrids represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, in 2013, with the upbeat wedding themed dance-pop track “Marry Me”. The singer made the Grand Final of the Contest, and would eventually finish in 24th place. In later years, Krista made appearances in Sweden’s national final Melodifestivalen, performing in both 2016 and 2017, but being unable to reach the final of the national selection show. In the second half of the 2010s, Krista regularly hosted the UMK national final in Finland, even doing so while competing to represent neighbouring Sweden in the Contest. Krista is back for her first release in almost 5 years this week, with ”Finlandia”. The track is a Swedish language version of the iconic Finnish hymn, often regarded as the unofficial anthem of Finland.
Krista took to her instagram to tell fans “The more years that go by, the more important my roots and my language feel. That’s why I got a strong urge to record this amazing song in my native language. The cover is adorned by this fantastic picture from Kaskö and the Finnish nature. It was taken by our family friend, the talented photographer Mårten Sjöblom. This photo is one of my all time favorite of his pictures and I knew immediately I wanted this as my cover song. Happy Swedish Day to you all on November 6th!”.
🇮🇸 Diljá – “Það eru jól og hjartað verður hlýtt”
Iceland’s Diljá narrowly missed out on a spot in the 2023 Eurovision final with her entry “Power”. After a number of new releases earlier this year, this week, Diljá teams up with Icelandic artist Löður for the release of new track “Það eru jól og hjartað verður hlýtt”. The title of the song translates to “It’s Christmas and the heart will be warm” in the English language, and the record is an instant feel-good Christmas ballad.
🇭🇺 Pápai Joci – “Hurrikán”
Joci Pápai has twice represented Hungary in the Song Contest, finishing 8th in the Grand Final back in 2017 with the song “Origo”, and missing out on qualification two years later with the song “Az én apám”. After a busy year, the Hungarian singer has this week released his latest single “Hurrikán”. The track is a vibey, electro-RnB record with an instantly catchy beat. This is a great release from the Hungarian musician.
🇬🇷 Sakis Rouvas – “Kragion”
Greek musician Sakis Rouvas has twice represented his country in the Eurovision Song Contest. Sakis made his debut in the Contest back in 2004, performing “Shake It” in the Grand Final in Istanbul, where he eventually placed third. The singer returned to the Eurovision stage in 2009, performing “This Is Our Night” at the Contest in Moscow, where he placed seventh in the Grand Final. This week, Sakis is back with new single “Kragion”. “Kragion”, or ‘Lipstick’ when translated into the English language, is a powerful electro-pop anthem, with a modern sound and explosive intensity. This is a great electro-club record, with enough Greek flair to keep it classic Rouvas.
🇵🇱 Ochman – “Cisza ma imię”
Ochman placed 12th in the Song Contest in Turin in 2022 with his song “River”. The Polish singer is back with a new track,”Cisza ma imię”. The song is Ochman’s fourth collaboration with DJ project / Production outfit Wszytsko Dobrze, following the release of tracks “Plastic”, “Zostaw mnie dla siebie” and “Czego Ty Chcesz”, earlier in the year. Latest single “Cisza ma imię” is an anthemic, video game inspired anthem with a trap beat in the chorus, and Ochman’s instantly recognisable, powerful vocal throughout.
🇬🇷 (& 🇳🇱) Stefania – “Dirty On The Dancefloor”
Stefania has an interesting history with both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision. Originally representing the Netherlands at Junior Eurovision with the girl group Kisses in 2016, she was selected to participate in the 2020 contest for Greece with “Supergirl”. When the contest was cancelled due to covid, she was re-selected as Greece’s 2021 participant with her entry “Last Dance” which finished in 10th place at the Contest in Rotterdam. This week, the Greek-Dutch artist releases new single “Dirty On The Dancefloor”. If this doesn’t make you want to move and bop along, I’m not sure anything will. The song is a big euroclub-pop record, with a catchy chorus and banging synth beats.
🇦🇱 Lindita – “Tequila” & “Hala”
Kosovo-Albanian singer-songwriter Lindita Halimi has entered Albania’s Festivali I Këngës a total of three times, winning the contest and earning the right to represent Albania at the main Eurovision Song Contest on her third attempt. Lindita made her debut in FiK back in 2009, before returning in 2014. Ahead of the 2017 Contest in Kyiv, Lindita once again returned to the Albanian selection, winning the Eurovision ticket with the song “Botë”. The track was translated into English version “World” before hitting the stage in Ukraine, where Lindita performed in the first Semi-Final but was unable to make the 2017 Grand Final. Both songs show off Lindita’s powerful vocal, with an intensity and musical heat that is irresistible. “Tequila” is the darker, more intense of the tracks, while “Hala” brings beats and an RnB sound.
🇦🇹 PAENDA – “Klick Klack Boom”
Austria’s PAENDA has been incredibly busy with new music in recent months. The music producer, DJ and performer recently collaborated with fellow Eurovision 2019 alumni Darude on huge dance track “Feel The Beat”. The singer may have not made the final at the Contest in Tel Aviv, but PAENDA certainly knows how to keep making new hits. This week, PAENDA features on new single from Rene Rodriguez and Monkeekid, “Klick Black Boom”. This is a high-energy club banger. Classic PAENDA.
🇭🇺 AWS – “Szellemidézés”
AWS are probably my favourite metal act to take part in Eurovision, and also one of my favourite Hungarian acts in the Contest’s history. The band won the Hungarian national selection show A Dal and represented Hungary at the Contest in Lisbon, in 2018. They placed 21st in the Grand Final with the huge metal hit “Viszlát nyár”, and have gone on to widespread success and admiration amongst metal fans across Europe. The group have released a number of singles in recent weeks, and are back for another with “Szellemidézés”. The song comes as AWS celebrate their 20th anniversary as a band, and this latest single is a huge sound. The song is full of metal guitars and intense drums, delivering an arena-rock sound.
🇦🇲 Sevak – “Голоса”
Sevak Khanagyan won the Armenian national selection Depi Evratesil in 2018 with the song “Qami”, earning him the right to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon. His entry made history as the very first Eurovision song to be sung entirely in the Armenian language. Sevak performed in the first of the Semi-Finals in the 2018 Contest in Portugal, but was unable to reach the Grand Final. This week, Sevak is back with new track “Голоса”, and it is a sweet, romantic folk-pop ballad.
🇩🇪 Lord Of The Lost – “EMPYREAN (Headphone 3D Mixes)”
10 years after the release of their “Empyrean” album, Germany’s Eurovision 2023 representatives Lord Of The Lost released the 2026 celebratory Deluxe Edition of the album earlier this year. This week, the German metal group are back with a “Headphone 3D Mixes” version of the record. Fans of the band will enjoy this experience, and it is a creative way to celebrate the band’s iconic album. Those with good headphones, or surround sound listening equipment will get the best effect of this. Personally, the track “Doomsday Disco” works best in this new “3D” mix.
🇪🇪 Ott Lepland – “Mõrumagus”
Estonian singer-songwriter Ott Lepland represented his country in the 2012 Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan. The singer finished in sixth place in the 2012 Contest with the song “Kuula”. Ott returned to Estonia’s Eesti Laul national selection show in 2022 with the song “Aovalguses”, but was unable to win the Eurovision ticket on his second attempt. Ott returns with his new single “Mõrumagus” this week, and its a beautiful indie-pop ballad, full of keys, strings and synths, creating a huge sound.
🇬🇷 Katerine Duska – “Baby Dopamine”
Katerine represented Greece in the 2019 Song Contest with her song “Better Love”, placing 21st in the Tel Aviv Grand Final. This week, the singer is back with new single “Baby Dopamine”. Katerine released the song on her birthday, ahead of her upcoming album, and describes the track as “an ode to 90s dance pop, one of my first loves. It’s about our addiction to vacant stimulation, the endless pursuit of never-ending highs, and our increasingly complicated relationship with the things that keep us distracted and alienated. And, overall, it’s about wishing I didn’t need to be on my phone while sharing all of this with you.” This is infectious dance-pop from Katerine, and I am absolutely excited to hear what her next album brings. Happy Birthday Katerine.
🇱🇹 Monika Linkyte – “Vėl kvėpuoju”
Monika Linkyte has attempted to represent Lithuania at either Junior Eurovision or the adult Eurovision Song Contest a total of nine times so far in her career. The singer was successful in 2015, with Vaidas Baumila and the song “This Time”, and again in 2023, this time solo, with the song “Stay”. Both entries reached the final of their respective Contests. This week, Monika features on the new Arturas Ja single “Vėl kvėpuoju”. The song is a beautiful pop-RnB ballad, showcasing both musicians’ vocal talent in a really exciting way. The pairing of Monika and Arturas is really sonically pleasant.
🇨🇾 Michalis Hatzigiannis – “Не тръгвай”
Michalis Hatzigiannis represented Cyprus in the 1998 Eurovision Song Contest held in Birmingham, placing 11th in the Grand Final with the song “Genesis (Γένεσις)”. This week, he joins Bulgarian pop star Anelia on the release of her new track “Не тръгвай”, a reimagination of Michalis’ classic track “De fevgo”.
