The eighth act rehearsing today is Ukraine, who will be represented by GO_A in this year’s competition with their entry ‘Shum (ะจัะผ)‘
What did we think of the rehearsal?
The band and dancers are in all white apart from Kateryna who is wearing black with a green fur coat. she maintains intensity while performing throughout the song. The staging is like white forest around the group and 2 dancers that have joined them. The first colours we see in the first verse are yellow/gold which bring the sense of the party this song wants to bring. In the second verse the background changes all blue and ominous the two dancers break away from the forest and dance out on the stage.
When the rave part kicks in we see mannequins running in the backdrop. At the end the song and backdrop all turn gold again, this is dark but also has a celebratory vibe. Before the drop we see shadows of people raving, this all feels very futuristic. Kateryna is vocally perfect throughout the performance in each run through.

Now what did our team think of Ukraine’s rehearsal?
Jazzi: This was another strong rehearsal, this is dark and ominous, but brings the party at the same time. I really like the use of the colours throughout the song. I love the futuristic vibe this has it works really well with the song. This song should have no issues qualifying, and if it does it will be an absolute robbery. This is some of my favourite staging that we have seen so far. and I really hope it gets the result it deserves
Rosie: Do I slightly hate to admit that this was a relief? Yes. So much worry about Ukraine’s chances of qualification in such a strong semi-final was hard to ignore. This was truly a wow moment for me. It’s really rather beautiful – haunting, powerful, technical, and captures the song wonderfully. Kateryna is the dark Spring Queen leading the rest of the band in the summoning of the new season, and I feel like I’ve fallen in love with the song all over again.
