After the confirmation that Sweden will be participating in the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest, the search for Sweden’s next Eurovision entry commences, as the submission period for Melodifestivalen 2022 now opens. If you are one of the people interested in submitting an entry, you haven’t got long as submissions are only open until 11:59CET on September 17.
Melodifestivalen 2022 is under way
28 songs will be competing to fight for the right to represent Sweden at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Italy. 14 of the competing entries will be selected by a jury, from the submissions received, whilst the remaining 14 entries, will be specially invited by SVT or selected by SVT from the submitted entries.

Sweden’s Eurovision Journey
In 1958, Sweden made their debut in the Eurovision Song Contest, with Alice Babs representing them with the song “Lilla stjärna” which placed fourth. Since their debut, the Scandinavian nation has managed to win six times (1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012, and 2015).
In 2021, Sweden was represented by Tusse, who won the 60th edition of the competition and competed with the song “Voices”, which managed to qualify for the Grand Final and placed 14th with 109 Points from the Jury and Televoters.
