Today, the smallest nation to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest has revealed further information about its participation in the 2022 contest. SMRTV has revealed that it will be selecting its representative via ‘Una Voce Per San Marino’. The National Final is being undertaken by SMRTV alongside San Marino Tourism Board, Media Evolution (ME), and the San Marino Government.
This will be San Marino’s second National final. Their first one was in 2018 when they selected Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening via 1 in 360.
‘Una Voce Per San Marino’ to span over a few months
The competition will consist of “Emerging” and “BIG” categories in the competition, with the competition culminating due to culminate on February 19, 2022, at the Nuova Dogana theatre.
Casting Calls, Semi-Finals, and a Final for Emerging artists
Multiple rounds of competition will take place from Casting Calls to Semi-Finals, which would then lead to 9 artists being selected (including the winner in this category) to compete in the Grand Final, where they will compete for a chance to represent San Marino at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest.
“BIG” artists will be invited to compete in the Grand Final
9 of the competing artists in the final will be in the “BIG” category which will consist of renowned and notorious artists, who have qualified live and phonographic experience. There will be no limits on the artists performing in the “BIG” category in terms of nationality, language, origin, or other

San Marino’s Eurovision Journey
As one of the smallest countries in Europe, San Marino made its debut in the competition in 2008 with Miodio and the song “Complice”. Since then they have participated in the competition 11 times (3 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final), and their best result was in 2019, with Serhat and “Say Na Na Na”.
Their recent participation saw them being represented by Senhit (who represented them in 2011, and was set to represent them in 2020), with the song “Adrenalina”. On her performance in Rotterdam, she was joined by American rapper Flo-Rida, where San Marino qualified consecutively qualified for the Grand Final, for a second time. Overall, San Marino placed 22nd Overall, receiving 50 points from the Jury and Televoters.
