Slovenia has now completed the line-up for EMA this year, as four competitors from EMA Freš have been selected to complete alongside the 16 previously-announced artists.
Luma, Stela Sofia, LPS and Leya Leanne will now take to the EMA stage on either 5th or 12th February as part of the semi-final stage of the competition to represent Slovenia at Eurovision 2022.
EMA Freš is a competition open to up-and-coming Slovenian artists under 30 who have released no more than three previous songs. The show was hosted by Eva Boto, Bojan Cvjetićanin and Arne – all prominent singers and rappers in Slovenia.

Luma and Stela Sofia qualified from the jury vote, and LPS and Leya Leanne from the televote.
To reach the final of EMA Freš, artists performed in a series of weekly duels. Nine artists progressed to the final from these, with the other artists competing for 5 places as part of a second chance round.
What else do we know about EMA this year?
EMA 2022 will take place in February 2022, with the semi-finals taking place on the 5th and 12th of February, followed by a final on the 19th February. The voting will be a 50/50 split between a jury and a televote in all shows.
Slovenian broadcaster RTV announced that they had received 127 applications for EMA and EMA Freš.
Slovenia in Eurovision
In 1993, Slovenia made its debut in the Eurovision Song Contest with 1X Band and the song “Tih deževen dan”, which placed 22nd. Since their debut, they have participated 26 times (15 of which where they qualified for the Grand Final).
Slovenia’s recent Eurovision participation saw them being represented by Ana Soklič with the song “Amen”. The song placed 13th in the first semi-final, receiving 44 points from the jury and televoters.
